Working with MS Photoshop
1. I manipulated the photo(below) into a digital image (above). I used several different aspects of Photoshop tools. There were so many ideas to choose from! What I wanted to do was place the Degas-like pic into the screen of my first computer-an iMac. I was feeling happy, so I placed a series of hearts above one another to get a nice effect. I had them stem from the mouse. I also used the black lines to make it look like it was a broken computer (duct tape). The computer actually crashed a year after this pic was taken, so hence the manipulation.
2. There are many ways to incorporate this into my classroom. My students would love to do more with Photoshop. I will be using a SmartBoard soon, so that will be fun, too. I considered using Apple Aperture, but decided to stick with Photoshop b/c the pic inspired me with teaching a lesson in math this week. The process was easy, but that's because I know Photoshop. The skills photoshop teaches are abundant! Working in groups, changing images, altering aspects of a pic while keeping some the same. There are hundreds of things those tools can do and I find students really enjoy using Photoshop, too.
